LZNI Nitra-Janíkovce
The International Airport Nitra–Janíkovce (LZNI) is situated approx. 3
km south of the town of Nitra, near the small village Janíkovce. It has an
elevation of 135 m above sea, operational grass surfaced runway which
is orientated in direction 150/330 degrees. The runway is approx. 1200
m long and is suitable for aircraft up to 5600 kg of maximum weight.
Local information radio frequency is 123.4 MHz.
Airport Nitra is operated by Aeroclub Nitra. You can find two more
companies there: Aero Slovakia (aerial works) and Aeropro (producer of
ultralight planes "Eurofox"). The field came into headlines, when an
Aeromobil, a hybrid car-airplane device of Slovak origin, crashed from a
height of approximately 300 metres at the Nitra-Janíkovce Airport on
May 8 2015, with four firefighter vehicles and ten firefighters despatched
to the scene. Pilot Stefan Klein remained unharmed since he could set
a parachute, softening the impact.
In this scenery you will not find flying cars, but some ground traffic on
and around the airport. Ground traffic will not work in X-Plane 9.
